Blake made history in September 2021 when he was the first openly Two-Spirit person ever elected to the House of Commons and the first Indigenous representative from Edmonton.

Blake is the NDP’s Critic for Indigenous Housing, Treasury Board, Diversity & Inclusion, Youth, and Sport. He was part of the NDP’s negotiation team for the 2022-2024 Supply and Confidence Agreement between the NDP Opposition and Liberal Government.

He is also the inaugural co-chair of the Canadian Pride Caucus, a multi-partisan group of 2SLGBTQIA+ MPs and Senators in Parliament.
